The number of MIPs given out in the Clemson area skyrocketed last weekend, fueled primarily by charges given out on-campus by university police.
26 MIPs were issued over Thanksgiving weekend, including 14 given out on-campus. This is the most in a single weekend since 28 MIPs were given out during the weekend of Clemson University’s home football opener.
According to crime data obtained by The Tiger, the City of Clemson Police Department and the Clemson University Police Department typically give out 14.5 total MIPs per weekend. City PD usually gives out more MIPs than University PD, another trend that was bucked last weekend.
This abnormally high MIP count coincided with Clemson’s final home football game against its rival, the University of South Carolina.
The Tiger publishes the number of MIPs issued each weekend, as well as a chart that tracks when and where City PD officers gave out MIPs in the downtown area. Check out the full crime report online.
