Police responded to a suspected larceny at the Dockside Clemson apartments on Jan. 30 after a Dockside resident reported that his locked bedroom had been entered and “disheveled,” noting that half of his Bulleit Bourbon bottle had been drunk.

Employees of a restoration company hired by Dockside were repairing burst pipes from a severe weather event when the larceny occurred. The resident left his apartment on the afternoon of Jan. 29. Upon returning two hours later, he found several employees in the living room and noticed his bedroom had been unlocked and rummaged through, according to a police report.

Approximately 30 employees had access to the resident’s bedroom via electronic key fobs, according to Dockside manager Nick Simmons. Dockside dismissed five employees suspected of being involved in the larceny and has stated it will replace the resident’s bourbon. The resident has chosen not to press charges.

This is the latest of several incidents affecting Dockside Clemson, including delayed August move-ins, faulty carbon monoxide alarms and a severe pipe burst in January.
