1 arrested in hit-and-run that injured 3 Clemson students

25-year-old John Wilson Thompson, of Seneca, has turned himself in in connection to a hit-and-run that occurred in downtown Clemson early Sunday morning.

UPDATE (5:05 p.m.):

 

The Clemson City Police Department has arrested a man in connection to a hit-and-run that occurred in downtown Clemson early Sunday morning.

 

Police say that 25-year-old John Wilson Thompson, of Seneca, turned himself in after he recognized himself in a post about the incident on the department’s Facebook page.

 

Officers responded to a hit-and-run that happened on College Avenue, between Keith Street and Edgewood Avenue, around 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

 

Three people, who were later identified as Clemson students, were injured, and all were hospitalized, officials said. Two were released later Sunday morning, but one remains in the hospital in critical condition.

 

Thompson has been charged with one count Hit and Run with Bodily Injury and two counts of Hit and Run With Great Bodily Injury. He is currently being held at the Clemson City Jail awaiting a bond hearing.

 


 

The Clemson City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a person of interest that was involved in a hit-and-run early Sunday morning.

According to the department’s Facebook page, officers responded to a hit-and-run that happened on College Avenue, between Keith Street and Edgewood Avenue, around 2:10 a.m. Sunday morning.

Three people were injured, and all were hospitalized, officials said. Two were released later Sunday morning, but one is still in the hospital with significant injuries.

The suspected vehicle is a four-door Ford F150, either black or dark gray in color, and was being driven by a white male. It will be missing the passenger-side mirror and the radio antenna, according to officials.

The suspect was last seen turning off College Avenue onto U.S. 123/76 towards Seneca.
