A Clemson graduate detained in Dubai after trying to returning to the U.S. after visiting her family in Iran posted an update Wednesday on her Facebook account.
Nazanin Zinouri was denied entry into the U.S. as a result of an executive order signed by President Trump on Jan. 27. It bans citizens from seven countries from entering the U.S. for the next 90 days.
Zinouri’s story went viral after an initial post on Facebook last week.
“After waiting in the line to get my documents checked and after 40 minutes of questions and answers, I boarded the plane to Washington, only to have two TSA officers getting in and ask me to disembark the plane!!! Yes after almost 7 years of living the the United States, I got deported!!! [sic],” Zinouri wrote on Jan. 28.
Sens. Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott have both been working to assist Zinouri. Graham visited Zinouri’s employer, Modjoul, and co-workers on Monday at their office in Clemson. A crowd stood outside during the meeting to show their support.
