Bert Henderson, a member of the Clemson University staff, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore.
Henderson’s body was found Tuesday, a day after he was reported missing.
Henderson, 60, did not attend work Monday and was reported missing by family members around 3:45 p.m. He was last seen at his home on West Church Road in Easley.
His body was found on land adjacent to his property, according to the Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride.
Henderson began his Clemson career in 1978 as an athletic trainer. Before beginning his administrative career, Henderson served as a trainer for Clemson football’s 1981 national championship team.
The Clemson Athletics department released the following statement:
His wife of 32 years, Lee Ann Hudson, died in November. He is survived by his two daughters, Amy Lee and Kimberly, according to ClemsonTigers.com.
