The Clemson women’s basketball team fell to #15 Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Thursday, with the Blue Devils (19-4, 7-3) winning comfortably over the Tigers (12-11, 1-9) 65-37.
The Blue Devils got off to a hot start, taking a 13-2 lead, and never looked back. Guard Rebecca Greenwell led the way for Duke, leading all scorers with 21 points. Defense was the story of the game for the Blue Devils, however, as they forced the Tigers into 19 turnovers.
Clemson was unable to settle into an offensive rhythm at any point during the game, and open shots were hard to come by. Freshman starlet Jaia Alexander scored 10 points for the Tigers, and Nelly Perry, Clemson’s leading scorer, continued to work her way back to top form after missing time due to injury. Perry accrued two steals and three assists during the evening.
The Tigers will aim to make up for the loss at Duke when they take on the North Carolina Tar Heels (13-9, 2-7) at home on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. at Littlejohn Coliseum.
