A CATBus crashed down stairs near Death Valley (Memorial Stadium) this Thursday afternoon.
Witnesses say the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m.
Phillip Sikes, the Communications Director for Student Affairs, said that the suspected cause of the crash is a mechanical failure.
Sikes also stated there were no passengers, nor a driver on the bus at the time. CUPD reported no injuries.
The bus was removed around 4 p.m.
The bus suffered some front end damage. Staircase rails were damaged as well.
“We are currently investigating what happened, and still assessing the scene,” CATbus interim general manager Keith Moody said in an email to The Tiger. “As of right now we don’t have anything to report.”
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
