Clemson University President James Clements releases statement regarding Presidential Executive Order

Clemson University President James Clements released a statement Saturday evening regarding President Trump’s Executive Order that has suspended entry into the United States for non-US citizens from a number of countries. A US judge just recently placed a temporary halt on detentions of visa holders from seven countries, according to the BBC. Clements’ statement comes just a few hours after Clemson grad Nazanin Zinouri posted on Facebook that she was denied reentry into the U.S.
Clements said that the university is advising anyone who could potentially be affected by the Executive Order to defer any travel outside of the U.S. for the time being.
“Our international students, faculty and staff are important members of our university community. We will continue to monitor this rapidly evolving situation and keep the university community updated as more information becomes available,” Clements said.
Those who have been affected by the Executive Order are encouraged to reach out to Director of International Services Tina Rousselot de St Ceran ([email protected]) or Vice Provost for Global Engagement Sharon Nagy ([email protected]). Those affected can also call the Office of Global Engagement at (864) 656-3614.
