Hello everyone, and welcome back to my top five podcasts you should listen to this month. After hours of strenuous research (aka me shuffling through podcasts at work), I have curated a new list of podcasts that I believe deserve a spotlight. Here are this months’ top five podcasts.
“Nutrition Facts with Dr. Greger” – Michael Greger, M.D. FACLM
I started listening to this podcast when I realized just how little I knew about health and nutrition. Aside from taking an actual health or nutrition class, this is a great, easy and interesting alternative to learning what things you probably should and should not be putting into your body. Dr. Greger presents concepts like the health benefits of pistachios (which can act as a sleep supplement), what vitamins and minerals you need to have or even the pros and cons of eating less meat. Not only are these concepts presented in short tidbits (perfect for your walk to class), but he also explains the studies that he gets them from and why it’s important. With bathing suit season coming soon, this is a great podcast to start binging.
“Amy Schumer Presents: 3 Girls, 1 Keith” – Amy Schumer
You have probably heard of the comedian and actress, Amy Schumer, but have you actually sat down to listen to her and three other comedians talk about life? Not only have I found myself having to set aside my headphones at work in order to not burst out laughing, but I have also found my self genuinely intrigued by conversations about life and big issues going on today. Amy, Keith, Rachel and Bridget put things into a funny and understandable, yet raunchy, light every week. You will even have the opportunity to listen to guests come in to put their opinion into the mix. So if you are in the mood to listen to some funny conversations about anything from money, to family issues, give “3 Girls, 1 Keith” a try.
“Stuff You Missed in History Class” – iHeartRadio & HowStuffWorks
Just like the podcast, “Stuff You Should Know”, “Stuff You Missed in History Class” is a great way to learn about random moments in history in short bursts. These episodes last anywhere from five to twenty minutes max, which makes them the perfect tool to use for those who want to impress others with their vast knowledge, or kill others in a game of trivia. Take some time and enjoy learning about interesting things in history with this one.
“How I Built This with Guy Raz” – NPR
Want to learn about how huge companies like Patagonia, Clif Bar, Instagram and everything in between was built? Then this is the perfect podcast to listen to, as it satisfies the little entrepreneur in everyone. Guy Raz sits down with the creators themselves and we listen to the stories of all of the challenges and processes they went through to build the huge successful businesses they have today. It’s pretty motivational as well and will probably leave you wanting to go off and invent the next big business idea.
“Wolf 359” – Kinda Evil Genius Productions
Granted, I am currently still binging this one, but “Wolf 359” is such a cool story to listen to, I can’t seem to stop. Unlike the other podcasts listed here, “Wolf 359” is a fictional story about three crew members and an AI aboard a spaceship voiced by real actors with sound effects. The main character, Communications Officer, Doug Eiffel, updates his log about the day to day life aboard the ship in a funny way. If you are into sci-fi as well as humor, this is the perfect podcast to fill your hours and make you feel like you are listening to a real TV show.
Honorary Mention: “Girl in Space” – Sarah Rhea Werner
Now, other than the fact that I tried to stick to only five podcasts this month, I thought that this podcast deserved a special little shout out. Not only did “Girl in Space” start me on my journey to listening to fictional story podcasts, but it also made me realize just how amazing they are and how much I want to go to space. This details the journey of, you guessed it, a girl in space as she researches, deals with a dysfunctional robot and now has to defend her ship against other space organizations wanting her research. Did I also mention that she had never even met anyone other than her mom and dad before? I burned through this one in about two days, and let me tell you it will be easy to get addicted but just a heads up, the writer has not posted in about three months so you will either have to be very patient or accept the fact of not finding out what happens in order to listen to this.
Well, that’s it for me folks. I hope you got some new podcasts to listen to out of this. Feel free to let me or The Tiger know what you think of them or any podcasts you think we should listen to ourselves during production day. Let us know at:
