Top five types of videos for taking a break
A universal hell week is upon us as teachers try to get in some big grades before Thanksgiving, and it promises to be stressful and exhausting for students of all majors. But while you’re burning the midnight oil and surviving off of energy bars and coffee, remember that sometimes a short break can go a long way. Try watching some of these videos whenever you realize you’ve read a sentence three times over or doubled two and gotten six; just make sure your YouTube Autoplay is off and try to control how many you watch in a row.
5. DrPimplePopper videos
Dr. Pimple Popper
So, you’re a popaholic; it’s okay, we don’t judge here. There are many pimple-popping videos on YouTube, but Sandra Lee’s account is widely accepted as the best. Beware, there is some blood and a lot of pus involved with these videos, but dilated Winer’s pores can sometimes fulfill a guilty pleasure, and cysts can relieve a bit of stress. Are the videos gross? Undoubtedly. But they’re also so oddly satisfying.
4. CinemaWins videos
Cinema Wins
Everyone’s heard of the CinemaSins videos that list everything supposedly wrong with a film and leave you staring at your screen in indignation and frustration. These are the much more positive and pleasing version of those videos. Instead of watching your favorite movies be broken apart with half-assed arguments, enjoy a 15-minute celebration capped off with an honest review. It’s refreshing, it’s full of positivity and it gives you some good ideas for your next movie marathon.
3. Episodes from old cartoons
Kiss Cartoon
Watch Cartoon Online
There’s something absurdly relaxing and nostalgic about watching shows from your childhood, and these episodes are kind enough to only last 22 minutes. When math stops being universal and English looks like another language, go back to your roots and stream a “Danny Phantom,” “Kim Possible” or “Avatar: The Last Airbender” episode. If YouTube doesn’t have any good versions of the episode, try the links above!
2. Music videos from classic Disney movies
It’s hell week and it’s time to get down to business to defeat your homework…but only after you’ve watched “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from “Mulan.” Music from Disney movies is catchy and familiar, and the music videos are short enough that they don’t impede your study time too much! They’re even universal enough to have multiple versions on YouTube! “Almost There,” “One Jump Ahead” and “When Will My Life Begin” are always good options, and they’re motivational, too!
1. WatchMojo and MsMojo videos
WatchMojo
MsMojo
The Mojo videos, though sometimes incorrect in their rankings, are godsends, and anyone who disagrees can meet me in a Denny’s parking lot at 3 a.m. Usually between 10 and 15 minutes, these videos offer rankings of everything under the sun, from best Disney women of color to wildest political scandals. They’re numerous, often obscure and the perfect length for a stressed college student who needs a short break. Just make sure you don’t get sucked into the depths of YouTube and binge these addictive videos until an ungodly hour.
