De-spookifying National Coming Out Day

Thursday, Oct. 11 is National Coming Out Day’s 30th Anniversary, and, in Clemson style, one day turned into an entire week of opportunities and workshops. Here’s a quick guide to the day itself and the events going on around campus, and of course there are a few Halloween-themed jokes.
National Coming Out Day
National Coming Out Day is a day for members of the LGBTQ+ community to make their identities known, whether it be through social media or personal conversations. It is a day of honesty and of clearing skeletons out of the closet. If you’re interested in more information, this link offers background and resources surrounding National Coming Out Day.
Remember to be kind if a friend or family member comes out to you! Don’t ghost them on social media and try not to become wrapped up in analyzing all your past interactions. Coming out is scary, and consider their honesty a treat, not a trick!
