FOOTBALL
What has happened: Clemson routed NC State 41-7 on Homecoming 2018 as the Tigers played 85 guys in the rout. Trevor Lawrence and the Clemson offense may have had their best day through the air, passing for 380 yards. Clemson’s defense held the ACC’s No. 1 passing offense to just 193 yards in the winning effort. Clemson remains unbeaten at 7-0. The first College Football Playoff rankings will be released next Tuesday.
Coming up: Clemson will hit the road to face Florida State on Saturday. Kickoff is at noon.
VOLLEYBALL
What has happened: Clemson kicked off the weekend with a sweep of Miami in three sets, the first sweep in four years for the program. Brooke Bailey tied her career high in kills with 18 and Emily Curtis came up with 14 digs in her first start. On Sunday, the Tigers fell in Tallahassee but Bailey had 17 kills while with a career high 53 swings while Curtis had a season high 17 digs.
Clemson’s record currently sits at 10-12 overall and 1-8 in ACC play.
Coming up: Clemson will host two ACC opponents in Jervey this upcoming weekend. The first on Friday against NC State at 7 p.m. before North Carolina rolls in on Sunday at 1 p.m.
MEN’S SOCCER
What has happened: Clemson’s struggles continued this past week as they were shutout in a Tuesday loss to Coastal Carolina and an overtime heartbreaker to Louisville on Saturday night. Both games were lost by a score of 1-0.
Clemson’s record currently stands at 5-8-1 overall and 0-6 in ACC play.
Coming up: Clemson closes out the regular season this week beginning with their final ACC matchup against Syracuse on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before NC State rolls in on Saturday at 6 p.m.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
What has happened: Clemson fell to Wake Forest on the road on Thursday night by a score of 2-1 as Julie Mackin scored the only goal for the Tigers in the 75th minute to avoid being shutout as the Deacs were up 2-0 prior to the goal. On Sunday, Clemson defeated Virginia Tech for their first win in Blacksburg since 2004, 2-1. Miranda Weslake and Mariana Speckmaier continue their strong seasons with goals for the Tigers.
Clemson’s record stands at 10-7 overall and 5-4 in ACC play.
Coming up: The regular season concludes for Clemson on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Riggs Field against Syracuse before the ACC Tournament begins on Sunday. Complete information about that will be determined soon.
BASEBALL
What has happened: Monte Lee and the Clemson baseball team kicked off their first of two fall scrimmages, defeating Georgia Southern 8-3 on Oct. 13 in North Augusta in 10 innings. Davis Sharpe and Logan Davidson had two extra base hits to lead the Tigers.
Coming up: Clemson will host Coastal Carolina in their final fall scrimmage on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The 2019 season will kick off with a 3-game series against South Alabama on Friday, February 15.
