This February, Clemson University students, faculty and staff will join together to celebrate Black History Month. Below is a complete listing of events being held on campus.
Block Party
Feb. 1 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. in the Life Sciences Building Atrium
This Black History Month kick-off event will feature free food, games and dancing with a live DJ. Limited to Clemson students, faculty and staff members. One outside guest per CUID allowed. This event is being coordinated by the Omicron Phi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Call My Name Tours
Feb. 7 and Feb. 21 from 3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Attend a discussion and guided tour through campus highlighting African American history at Clemson. Light refreshments will be served. Sign up at https://goo.gl/forms/cbrN7fv2BpctGsHE2. This event is being coordinated by the Clemson Black Student Union.
A Night of Comedy with Darren Brand
Feb. 10 from 9:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. in the Barnes Center
Ancestry Workshop
Feb. 12 from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. (Drop-in) in The Brown Room, Cooper Library
Drop-in to learn about Ancestry.com and how you can explore your family lineage. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop. This event is being coordinated by University Libraries.
A Personal Picture of a Land Ethic
Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. in Academic Success Center, Room 118
Dr. Joseph “Drew” Lanham, Alumni Distinguished Professor of Wildlife Ecology, will be speaking on the topic of “Reclaiming our Ecology.” Coordinated by the Humanities Hub.
Map of the Diaspora
Feb. 19 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Drop-in) in The Brown Room, Cooper Library
Learn about diversity within the African Diaspora. Light refreshments will be served. This event is being coordinated by the Gantt Multicultural Center.
A Seat at the Table
Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in the OLLI at Clemson Building

Keynote Address: Angela Burt-Murray
Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. in the Watt Family Innovation Center Auditorium
An award-winning winning journalist, author, and producer, Angela Burt-Murray has produced and directed numerous magazines, TV specials and books. She currently serves as the Deputy Editor of GLAMOUR magazine. This event is being coordinated by the Gantt Multicultural Center.
