Statement released by the IFC suspending social events at fraternity houses.

The Clemson University Interfraternity Council (IFC) has suspended all social events at fraternity houses effective immediately, according to a statement released by the IFC on Sunday afternoon.

The decision comes after a CU Safety Alert was sent out early Saturday morning about a reported sexual assault at the Delta Chi fraternity house in Seneca. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

According to the statement released by the IFC, the organization’s executive board met on Sunday morning regarding the alleged sexual assault. The board came to the “decision to better our Risk-Management Policy” and “will be taking the essential steps to further improve the health and safety of our community here at Clemson.”

The statement says the suspension will be in place “until necessary measures are taken.”

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
