Former Clemson player Tajh Boyd arrested for July assault

Former Clemson quarterback, Tajh Boyd turned himself into authorities Tuesday morning as a result of an altercation outside of a bar in July. Boyd was charged with assault and battery. According to a police report, he pushed a bouncer in the chest on the night of July 14 outside of On the Roxx, located at 734 S. Main St., in downtown Greenville.
The doorman told Boyd the club was at capacity and he would have to wait in line just like everyone else, according to a police report based on the victim’s account. An argument arose and the doorman told Boyd he needed to leave. Boyd then “shoved him with two hands in his chest causing him to fly through the doorway knocking another female and himself to the ground,” according to the police report.
The victim said he did not report the event immediately because he wanted to communicate with his attorney first.
The warrant was placed for his arrest on Friday; Boyd turned himself in Tuesday morning. He was released the same day on an unsecured bond.
‘On the Roxx’ released a statement about the case on their Facebook page. The club said that they are not pressing charges against Boyd, nor did they report the incident. This is an altercation between Boyd an independent contractor who was hired to work the front door. The contractor pressed charges without their knowledge.
At Clemson, Boyd passed for 11,904 yards with a completion rate of 64.3% and 107 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,100 yards and 26 rushing touchdowns. Boyd was the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in 2012 during his three years as a starter.
