For this week’s Coffee Corner, I’ve gone all the way to Greenville to Flying Fox Coffee off of Trade Street in the Cartwright Food Hall. It’s a bit tucked away, sharing space with another cafe, but it’s worth every moment spent searching it out and every dime you’ll spend there. I can easily say that the drive is the only downside to going here, and even that barely detracts from the experience you’ll have. Without a doubt, this is one of my new favorites.
When I first walked in, what I expected to be a small, boxy cafe was actually a slim, two-story industrial scene that would make any interior designer’s mouth water. The natural light, the dark iron inlays against the brick, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee — I was perfectly content just looking around and gawking. Flying Fox’s stall was equally vibey. The dark green of the cabinets alongside the wood countertops was simply fantastic. There were plenty of places to sit, all of them scenic in their own right, so it’s a great location to take as many pictures as you can. On top of it all, the baristas were phenomenal in customer service, speed and quality. Everything about the experience of simply being here was about the best it could be. The vibes were an easy 5 out of 5.
Now, typically, I review food next, but this time around, I wasn’t able to grab anything from them. They only had about three options of pastries, so you aren’t missing much, and there’s a food stall right next to them, so you don’t necessarily have to go hungry. This does, however, give me more space to talk about their coffee.
The latte was the best I’ve ever had. Their “Oh Canada,” made with house-made maple pancake syrup and grated nutmeg on top, was coffee sorcery. Want something sweet but not too sweet? Want something perfectly textured, the smoothest drink you’ll ever have? Visit this coffee shop. This was only one of six on their “greatest hits” menu, and I can confirm this drink alone would keep them in business. The other options, such as the “salty ex” and the “more than a peeling,” I can only imagine how they compare. The coffee, unprecedented, gets a 6 out of 5.
Whether this was the magic of my barista — I believe his name was Jeremy — or that they are consistently incredible, I’ll have to figure out during my second, third and many other visits to come. What I can say is, go to Flying Fox Coffee. It’s an absolute must.
Cobb’s Coffee Corner is the subjective opinion of Senior Reporter Griffin Cobb. Rankings are based on three criteria: vibes, food and coffee. Griffin has rated all Clemson-based coffee shops and is currently reviewing cafes in the surrounding towns.

The places you are describing are located in downtown Greer, not Greenville.
