What do you think about the prices for apartments off campus for students?
“It is … a bit much, a little bit expensive, I would say. But, I guess when I think about it, it still roughly still comes out to be the same amount if I live on campus. But I do like my own space for sure and kind of having that option of being a little bit mobile and not really constrained to be on campus all the time.”
– Lauren Wiggins, a sophomore animal and veterinary sciences major
“The pricing for my apartment is pretty fair. I know a lot of people, especially downtown, really struggle with the high prices of housing. … I don’t really understand why (the rent increases) are happening. I mean, they say it’s like for different construction and stuff, but I can’t really do anything about it. I don’t think it’s great.”
– Cameron Bruce, a senior psychology major
“I think since it is such like a necessity and so many people need it, they are able to charge a lot and not give the best, like, quality. But, I mean, it is what it is.”
– Madeleine Bailey, a sophomore economics & political science major
“I think originally, when I signed sophomore year, it wasn’t ridiculous. I think it was like $750 a month for my apartment, but it’s just consistently gone up and I switched apartments for my junior year, and I moved to a smaller apartment in the same complex, and it was $125 more per month. So yeah, I mean, granted, I understand that it’s kind of like the times we’re living in, but also inflation’s ridiculous. But yeah, I mean, can’t really do anything else about it, but, yeah, it’s kind of ridiculous.” – Thomas Regan, a junior secondary education major
