Coming off a win against No. 12 seeded Syracuse, No. 13 seeded Clemson was defeated 82-60 by No. 5 seeded Virginia Tech in the second round of the ACC Tournament.

The Hokies got off to a hot start as they took a first-quarter double-digit lead, which grew by halftime. Down 23 at the half, Clemson was unable to close this gap.

After scoring a career-high 17 points against Syracuse, Clemson junior forward Hannah Hank finished with eight points, five rebounds and five steals against the Hokies.

Meanwhile, All-ACC first team player, Delicia Washington had 19 points on 7-17 shooting. Amari Robinson and Kionna Gaines each had 11 points. Despite their best efforts, the score was too far out of reach to mount a second half comeback.

Playing a pivotal role in the Tigers’ loss was the difference in 3-point shooting between the two teams. Virginia Tech shot 47.7% from beyond-the-arc while Clemson went 0-9. Furthermore, Clemson shot just 33.9% from the field and Virginia Tech shot 58.7% from the field.

A bright spot was Clemson’s free throw shooting where they went 20/23 (87%).
