The Clemson gymnastics team competed in the Texas Woman’s University quad meet on Sunday, where the Tigers ultimately placed second to No. 1 Oklahoma, with TWU and the University of Pennsylvania following behind. The Tigers ended the meet with a score of 196.350 to Oklahoma’s 198.250.
In the traditional Olympic order, the Tigers (5-2, 4-2 ACC) began the meet on beam. Redshirt senior Rebecca Wells led the Tigers with a team-high 9.800 performance, and following close behind was redshirt freshman Lilly Lippeatt with a 9.725. The other four Tigers participating in the event scored between 9.500 and 9.700, leaving Clemson to end the first rotation with a score of 48.575.
Head coach Amy Smith’s floor lineup was strong, with No. 19-ranked redshirt sophomore Brie Clark and redshirt junior Eve Jackson each delivering scores of 9.900. Redshirt sophomore Molly Arnold and Wells followed, both with a 9.875, to give the Tigers a score of 49.350 to conclude the second rotation.
The Tigers were on vault next, where redshirt sophomore Madison Minner scored a career-high 9.900. Arnold and Wells followed close behind with a score of 9.850, and Jackson scored 9.825. This gave the Tigers the second-highest scoring event of the day, with a score of 49.225.
Clemson closed out the meet on bars, where Wells scored a career-high of 9.875. Jackson, junior Lauren Rutherford and freshman Trinity Webb all scored a 9.800. Graduate Kaitlin Deguzman put up her season high of 9.900 to help the Tigers finish strong.
Clemson gymnastics is back in Littlejohn on Friday to take on Air Force and recognize its seniors for Senior Day.
