If you have spent any time in Clemson, you have probably heard about Tiger Town Tavern’s infamous pickletini. It’s made up of vodka and pickle juice, served in a traditional martini glass with a pickle to garnish, and has once again been voted the most popular cocktail in Clemson.
Many have expressed their surprise that a drink with pickle juice would be so popular. Some theorize it is because drinking pickle juice is the best hangover cure, but some have other reasons.
Several Clemson students raved about the drink to The Tiger.
“They’re the perfect drink and snack combos,” Sela Garncarz, a senior biomedical engineering major, said. “It gives you electrolytes to prevent hangovers.”
The drink has become a truly iconic part of Clemson culture. Whether you’re in Tiger Town Tavern, TigerTown Graphics or any clothing store in downtown Clemson, chances are you’ll see a shirt with a pickletini on the back.
“I love the pickletini because it is a really cool and unique 21st birthday tradition,” Kirsten Scro, a junior biomedical engineering major, said. “My friends at other schools think it’s super cool, and they have it on their list of things to do when they visit.”
“It’s the perfect birthday, new job, any celebration drink that’s not too expensive,” Avery Mock, a first-year Communication graduate student, told The Tiger.
Regardless of individuals’ reasons, Tiger Town Tavern’s pickletini remains the most popular drink amongst Clemson locals and visitors alike!
