This week in Tiger history: Clemson club football plays on Bowman Field

Originally taken by staff photographer Adam Thomas, The Tiger once captured the Clemson club football team playing in a scrimmage match on Bowman Field on Feb. 24, 1999.

While the club football team was originally founded in the early 1980s, this match was one of the final games played before a period of inactivity, with the team being reestablished in 2005 by Daniel Blackmon and Will McCameron and coached by former Clemson and NFL player Patrick Sapp.

Following this revival, the team played in the South Atlantic Conference of the National Club Football Association until the program’s disbandment in 2011 following an 0-5 season record.
