The warm, sunny days in Franklin, Tennessee, couldn’t heat up the Clemson women’s golf team, as they finished 11th overall in the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt this weekend.
Juniors Sydney Roberts and Isabella Rawl led the way for the Tigers. Roberts finished -4 for the tournament, tying for No. 22. Her final round included three birdies, keeping her in the top 25.
Rawl tied for No. 28 at -1, highlighted by an eagle on the 578-yard par-5, which helped her finish under par.
The team’s seniors contributed as well, with Chloe Holder wrapping up the weekend at +2, while Katherine Schuster was the Tigers’ biggest riser in the final round, moving up eight spots to finish at +3.
Competing as an individual, senior Melena Barrientos was the highest Clemson finisher after making a strong comeback from injury. Although her score didn’t count towards the team total, Barrientos shot a one-under final round, tying for No. 18 at -5.
Freshman Aitana Tuesta, who joined the Tigers from Lima, Peru, ended the tournament at +7.
The Tigers will aim to rebound at the Barbara Nicklaus Cup in Dublin, Ohio, which is set for Oct. 7 and 8.
