In the wake of damage left by Hurricane Helene, many local businesses are struggling to reopen. Food establishments, in particular, face the added challenges that stem from utilizing fresh produce. In the wake of widespread power outages, businesses have had to juggle produce that has been without refrigeration, and coffee shops must deal with the not-so-cold-anymore cold brew that is still stuck on their shelves.
However, there are a few local places that have opened their doors once again, albeit with a few changes.
Freehand Coffee in Pendleton
Freehand is offering a place to use wifi and charge up in their plant-filled spot about 10 minutes from Clemson’s campus. They update their hours daily via Instagram and are currently back to serving a full menu, including their fall house specialty drinks.
Methodical Coffee in downtown Greenville
While their other two locations suffered lost power and damage and are closed for the foreseeable future, Methodical’s cafe in the heart of Greenville continues to welcome locals. They are offering their usual menu as well as discounted bags of coffee and are open with extended hours until 7 p.m. all week.
The Common House in Anderson
Despite experiencing power loss for 48 hours, the Common House in Anderson reopened their cafe Monday morning.
