Last week, Clemson gymnastics received a play-in bid for the NCAA Gymnastics Championships Tuscaloosa Regional. The Tigers defeated Rutgers but ultimately fell short of advancing to the second round after facing three top-20 teams.
The Tigers competed against the Scarlet Knights on Thursday, where Eve Jackson and Brie Clark both put up floor scores of 9.900, tying their highest score for the event. Freshman Hannah Clark continued to prove her consistency in bars, scoring a career-high of 9.825 during the regional competition.
Although the Tigers trailed at the halfway point, 97.400-97.325, they were able to make a comeback in the final rotation on floor, where they ultimately defeated the Scarlet Knights, 195.400-193.875.
Clemson then looked to compete in the Tuscaloosa Regional Session II the following day, where a historic season came to an end. The Tigers went up against No. 3 Florida, No. 12 Oregon State and No. 20 NC State to conclude their season.
Despite losing in the second session, multiple Tigers performed season-highs in the meet. In the opening rotation, Sierra Church tied her season-high on beam, scoring a 9.900, which led Clemson to achieve its highest beam score of the year: 49.325.
Hannah Clark also had a career-high performance on Clemson’s final rotation of the season, scoring a 9.900 on her bar routine.
The Tigers came in fourth in the Tuscaloosa Regional, with Florida winning the meet, 198.225.
