Do you love to dance? Have you ever wondered how it feels to tango on the dance floor? Want to wow your friends with some sweet dance moves, or get in touch with your sophisticated side? If so, you may be interested in the Clemson Ballroom Club.
The Ballroom Club here at Clemson offers free ballroom dance lessons for students. Dances taught include the waltz, the foxtrot, and more, according to the Tiger Quest website.
The Tiger News had the opportunity to speak with Ron Weber, an active member, co-instructor, and co-founder of the Clemson Ballroom Club, to gain some valuable insight into the club.
“It doesn’t matter if you lack any prior dance knowledge and have two left feet. We are here to teach you and others the greatness and techniques of waltz, foxtrot, and tango,” Weber, a junior Visual Arts major, said.
He went on to explain that the Clemson Ballroom Club “adds structure to your dancing abilities to the songs you love.” At the club, students will be dancing “with others who seek the same assistance and fun to make their afternoon enjoyable and memorable.”
When asked about his favorite part of the club, Weber responded that, for him, as a co-instructor, his seeing “the relationships and bonds that form between the members of the club” is the best part.
Weber described the club as having a “welcoming and friendly atmosphere,” and he encouraged interested members to come out and bring friends along. “We always welcome newcomers to our gatherings!” he said.
There is no dress code, and no prior dancing knowledge is required. The Clemson Ballroom Club meets every Tuesday evening from 7p.m. – 9p.m. in the Palmetto Ballroom, located on the fifth floor of the Edgar Brown University Union, and is open to all students.
