It’s time to Patty: Clemson’s annual Ain’t Patty’s Day is this Saturday, March 9, all the way down College Avenue until you find the pot of gold, or at least your Uber home.
If you haven’t heard of it, Ain’t Patty’s Day is a fake holiday and sacred Clemson bar crawl that occurs the week before the actual holiday it mimics, Saint Patrick’s Day. This year, like every year before, Saint Patrick’s Day unfortunately falls during Clemson’s spring break, when many students flee to various parts of the globe.
In order to celebrate together and capitalize on the rowdy theme Saint Patrick’s Day brings, bars downtown have encouraged the phony holiday the weekend beforehand, making sure to offer deals on drinks and food. Bar-crawlers march the streets in seas of green or leprechaun costumes to get in the festive spirit.
Some tips for this year: bring a poncho, wear all the green you own, practice your Irish pickup lines, be kind to your bartenders and most importantly, stay safe.
For extra fun, the Instagram @cu_bartab has created “Ain’t Patty’s Day Bar Golf,” which is essentially a game to tally the drinks and bars visited. Irish you much luck on the journey.
Below, you can find all of the downtown bars’ hours, deals, music and more that they are offering this fake holiday season!
