With the midweek series against Liberty complete, Clemson is looking ahead to its first ACC matchup on Friday. This weekend’s series against Notre Dame will begin a stretch of the next 10 weekends that the Tigers will face off against ACC opponents.
Clemson (17-1) is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation, according to D1Baseball, and boasts a strong record with a win over No. 8 Oregon State and a Palmetto Series sweep against South Carolina, handing the Gamecocks their only three losses of the season so far.
Unlike the Tigers, Notre Dame (10-4) has already begun ACC play, as it took on Wake Forest last weekend. The Fighting Irish were swept in that series and were run-ruled in two of the three games.
As Clemson goes into this weekend, it will look to keep the bats hot. After starting the season with just two home runs in the opening seven games, the Tigers have been producing at the plate, homering 18 times in their last 11 matchups.
On the defensive side of the ball, the bullpen has been stellar for Clemson, with a combined ERA of 3.81. In comparison, so far this season, opposing pitchers have a combined ERA of 8.98 when facing the Tigers.
That could spell trouble for Notre Dame this weekend, as pitchers for the Fighting Irish have a combined 5.25 ERA. Should Clemson continue its hot streak at the plate, that could be an area where the Tigers could take advantage.
Clemson takes on Notre Dame this weekend at Doug Kingsmore Stadium to begin a three-game series, with the first game on Friday at 4 p.m.
