The Tigers have a shot at championship weekend for the first time in program history. After a historic third season, Clemson (13-6, 7-3 ACC) earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers will face Navy on Friday, May 9, at 5 p.m. in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The Midshipmen (15-5) are riding high after upsetting Loyola for the Patriot League title in overtime, 14-13. Mikayla Williams’ golden goal gave Navy its first conference title since 2018 and its first postseason appearance since 2019.
On the other hand, Clemson heads into the game after pummeling then-No. 10/9 Duke in the ACC quarterfinals, 15-7. Top-ranked North Carolina then turned the Tigers away in their first ACC semifinal appearance in program history.
Clemson will need to rely on stars such as Lindsey Marshall, Kira Balis and Brooke Goldstein. Marshall has had an outstanding season, leading the team with 57 goals and 68 points total. Balis and Goldstein set single-season program records as freshmen: 137 draw controls for Balis and 40 assists for Goldstein, which is twice the previous record.
The winner of Navy and Clemson will move on to the second round to face top-seeded North Carolina on Sunday.
