In a notoriously difficult conference for women’s soccer, the No. 9-ranked Clemson Tigers have excelled in the ACC this season.

The ACC has an exceptional history of women’s soccer programs. Following its inception in 1994, Clemson’s team was ranked in the top 25 for 11 consecutive years, and since the inception of NCAA women’s soccer in 1982, the National Championship title has gone to an ACC team 24 times.

The ACC remains one of the most notorious conferences in the 2023 season, as six teams are currently ranked in the top 25 — the most of any NCAA Division I conference in the nation. Currently ranked at No. 9, the Tigers hold a 9-1-2 record, with their most impressive win being over then-ranked No. 7 Arkansas.

With just six games left in the regular season, postseason hopes for the Tigers look high thanks to their play both upfront and on the backline.

Senior goalie Halle Mackiewicz has led the nation in shutouts since early September, now with eight under her belt for a career total of 18 — the fourth most in program history. Helping defend the box are seniors Makenna Morris, a team captain, and Megan Bornkamp, named one of the defenders on Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.

On offense, standout players such as Dani Davis, Jenna Tobia and Caroline Conti have guided the Tigers to clinch the fifth most goals in the nation with 37.

Following the team’s 5-1 victory over the Syracuse Orange, head coach Eddie Radwanski said, “The main takeaway is that we got three valuable points in the ACC, which is the number one objective.”

“I was proud of how we played throughout the game; we created opportunities, and we had some well-taken goals,” he added.
