The Clemson men’s basketball team added another tally to its win column on Friday night, defeating Florida A&M at home by a score of 86-58.
The win, Clemson’s fourth in a row, marks the Tigers’ longest winning streak of the season so far.
With hopes of snapping the Tigers’ winning streak, Florida A&M (1-5) fought hard in the first half to keep the game close but finished the half down 38-32.
Luckily for Clemson, the second half would be decided in favor of the team that took care of the basketball. The Rattlers struggled to keep the ball on offense, combining for 16 total turnovers throughout the game.
The Tigers hit their stride in the second half, going on multiple double-digit runs — their most extensive of which being 21-4. They held the Rattlers to only four points in the first nine minutes of the second half.
Chase Hunter led the charge for Clemson, scoring 16 points. The Tigers’ defense considerably improved in the second half, spearheaded by Ian Schieffelin, who led the team in rebounds with 15 of his own, eliminating many chances for the Rattlers to get second-chance points.
As Clemson’s defense stood tall, Florida A&M only scored seven second-chance points throughout the game.
Next, the Tigers will search to continue their winning streak against their most formidable opponent this season: the No. 4-ranked and undefeated Kentucky Wildcats.
Tipoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Littlejohn Coliseum.
