The Clemson Tigers have finally used the transfer portal.
Wide receiver Tristan Smith committed to the Tigers on Monday night, announcing his transfer through his Instagram. Smith played for Southeast Missouri last season, entering the transfer portal when it officially opened on Dec. 9.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound wideout had a standout year with the Redhawks in 2024, tallying 76 receptions, 934 receiving yards and six touchdowns in his junior season. His biggest game of the season came Southeast Missouri’s final game of the season, where he recorded 139 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Illinois State.
Smith’s biggest outside influence came from Kentucky, but the LaGrange, Georgia, native decided to join wide receivers coach Tyler Grisham and a young wide receiver room for the 2025 season.
Before transferring to Southeast Missouri, Smith attended Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, notching 231 yards and two touchdowns over the course of two years. Now, the rising senior will receive the biggest chance of his collegiate career with Clemson.
The addition comes after the Tigers lost both Troy Stellato and Noble Johnson to the portal. Johnson committed to Arizona State on Sunday, while Stellato remains undecided as of Monday.
This is the first transfer in a skill position commitment for head coach Dabo Swinney. The team will look to pick up more players as the offseason begins across college football in the upcoming weeks.
