Flush it and move on. That’s the mentality for the Clemson women’s basketball team after its 94-65 loss to Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, on Sunday. The Tigers continue their rough stretch against ACC opponents.
Clemson’s Tessa Miller recorded a season-high 19 points, shooting 70% from the field. Hannah Kohn contributed 15 points on five 3-pointers, which brought her season total to 60 — ranking third in the ACC.
Although Maddi Cluse (12 points) and Clemson’s bench scored almost double Boston College’s (54-28), the lack of offense from the starters proved to play a bigger factor. The Tigers shot 39.3% from the field, while the Eagles shot 57.4%.
Boston College (13-11, 4-7 ACC) opened the game on a 10-0 run in the first three minutes before Clemson was able to respond, when the Tigers were able to trim the deficit to 2 points within four minutes.
Boston College took a 24-20 lead into the second quarter that quickly grew to a 37-23 lead following a 13-3 run. Boston College’s Teya Sidberry led all scorers with 20 points, while Andrea Daley cleaned the glass with 11 rebounds.
The Tigers (11-11, 4-7 ACC) went into halftime facing a 47-36 disadvantage but quickly were able to get back within single digits after the break, thanks to Miller’s 6 quick points.
Clemson trailed 58-48 with four minutes remaining in the third quarter, but Boston College’s defense boosted a 16-0 run that inflated its lead to 74-48 with 8:26 to play. The Eagles led by as many as 33 late in the game.
Next up, Clemson heads to Durham, North Carolina, to take on No. 10 Duke on Thursday, with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
