This year marks yet another victory for the Tigers in the annual Blood Bowl, a blood donation competition between Clemson and the University of South Carolina.
Final results report 3,669 pints of blood donated at Clemson, while South Carolina collected 1,997 pints. This victory now marks a record of 22-18 in favor of Clemson.
The Blood Bowl, held every year between Clemson and South Carolina, is the largest student-led blood drive competition in the United States.
The 41st annual Blood Bowl was held from Nov. 17 to 21.
Clemson’s chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a national co-ed service fraternity, organizes this campuswide blood drive in partnership with the Blood Connection and the American Red Cross.
The Blood Connection provides blood exclusively to every hospital in the Upstate, a mission supported through donation.
Clemson’s record for blood donations is currently 4,600 units. This year, Blood Bowl co-chairs Ellie Cain and Christina Deets aimed for 5,000 units.
The winning 22-18 record stands to prove that Clemson students know how to support a worthy cause.
