Following a semester-long hiatus, the Clemson club ice hockey team released its 2025 spring semester slate yesterday.
The Tigers will play 16 regular-season games — 7 of which will be on home ice — and, contingent on their performance in the regular season, they have the opportunity to earn a spot in the College Hockey South Division II playoffs and the 2025 Amateur Athletic Union national tournament.
Clemson will kick off its semester this weekend with two games — Saturday, Jan. 11 and Sunday, Jan. 12 — at home against the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers. The Chargers currently sit at the bottom of the CHS DII rankings with a record of 0-12-0.
The following weekend, the Tigers will travel to Nashville to take on the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Jan. 17 and 18. The Blue Raiders will likely be one of Clemson’s most formidable opponents in the regular season, as they are No. 1 overall in the CHS DII rankings and No. 5 overall in the AAU DI rankings with a record of 16-1-1.
Clemson will then travel to Duluth, Georgia, to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Jan. 24 and Jan. 25. In 14 games this season, Georgia Tech recorded four wins, nine losses and one tie.
Just four days after the Tigers make the trip to Duluth, the first game of the 2024-25 Palmetto Cup will commence; the Gamecocks — the defending DI national champions — will travel to the Upstate on Wednesday, Jan. 29, for the teams’ long-awaited reunion. So far this season, South Carolina leads its division in the CHS rankings with a record of 13-4-2 and sits No. 4 overall in the AAU DI rankings.
On Feb. 1 and 2, Clemson will host the Ole Miss Rebels. In 12 games, the Rebels posted seven wins and five losses.
Feb. 7-9, the Tigers will travel to Tennessee for the second time this season for a three-in-three against two opponents: the Vanderbilt Commodores and the DIII Austin Peay State Governors. Clemson will face off against the Commodores on Feb. 7 and 8 in Nashville, Tennessee, then make their way across the state to Clarksville, Tennessee, for a matchup against the Governors on Feb. 9.
The Tigers will travel to Irmo, South Carolina, for the second of three Palmetto Cup matchups on Feb. 12.
Clemson’s final home series is scheduled for Feb. 14-15 against the Charleston Cougars, who posted a 4-2-0 record in the fall semester.
To close out the regular season, the Tigers will visit the Gamecocks on Feb. 28.
If Clemson receives an invitation, the CHS DII playoffs will take place in February, and the AAU national tournament is set to take place Mar. 17-23 in Jacksonville, Florida.
All home games are played at the Ice Station in Greer, South Carolina. For any additional information, fans can visit the team’s Instagram page, @clemsonicehockey.
