This year, make sure to set attainable goals as stepping stones and make sure that you do not go too hard on yourself when you slip up.

As the new year rolls around, I think we are all in the same boat with this one. The tough reality is that oftentimes, these resolutions will fail. The best advice that one could give going forward is to try to make attainable goals.

If your goals feel unreachable to you or are daunting, the likely reality is that you will not be able to keep them up for long periods of time. Promise yourself small changes that will help you to achieve larger goals in your own time.

Set your resolution as a change in mindset rather than a change in hard-to-break habits.
Along with this, be sure to look at your achievements as victories and your slip-ups as bumps in the road rather than failures.

No one is perfect, so it’s likely you’ll make mistakes and slip into old habits. What is important is to view these as mere side steps on your ultimate journey. Stop dwelling on past mistakes and keep moving forward with the you that you wish to be this year!
