The Brook T. Smith Launchpad, Clemson’s entrepreneurial hub, opened its doors to all University students, staff and faculty on Jan. 18.
The Launchpad will host various events throughout the year, including quarterly pitch meetings and visiting speakers, along with various resources available to Clemson students and faculty. Located on the first two floors of 390 College Ave. in downtown Clemson, it’s open from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays and 3 p.m.-11 p.m. on Sundays.
Clemson claims that the new hub “provides expertise and resources to facilitate ideation, collaboration, consultations, networking and more,” according to a Clemson News article that announced its recent opening.
In addition to the Launchpad’s opening, Clemson News announced that throughout the spring semester, each college will be featured with its own “Entrepreneurship Week,” starting with the College of Science on Jan. 30.
John M. Hannon, the current director of Clemson’s Arthur M. Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, was named the founding director of the Launchpad in August 2023. Both the Institute and the Launchpad will merge to expand their efforts around entrepreneurship, according to Clemson News. Hannon has served as the director of the Institute since 2015 and will now lead the 8,000-square-foot Launchpad.
