The 2024 fall semester is in full swing, and Clemson’s campus is buzzing with both students and several on-campus construction projects that are either just beginning or putting on the finishing touches.
Construction work began earlier this summer on Clemson’s West Campus to replace the roof of the Fike Recreation Center. The E-14 parking lot will remain closed throughout the project, as it is being used to store construction equipment and materials. According to the University Facilities Construction Live Map, this project is expected to continue until March 2025.
Behind Tillman Hall and in front of Core Campus, the demolition of the remaining Johnstone Hall and the surrounding area, including the Union and Harcombe Dining Hall, began in May as part of the Johnstone Hall Core Campus Demolition Project. Once the site is cleared of debris, the space will be converted into green areas for future development. The demolition is scheduled for completion by May 2025.

In early 2024, Clemson broke ground on the new Forestry and Environmental Conservation Building, which is rising on the site of the former Lehotsky Hall in the Agricultural Quad. This state-of-the-art facility has an estimated completion date of the end of 2025.
Several other long-term projects are also making headway across campus this academic year. The Advanced Materials Innovation Complex, which has been under construction since early 2023, is set to bolster the University’s core departments in advanced materials, including materials science and engineering, chemistry and chemical and biomolecular engineering.
Near the Walker Golf Course and Madren Conference Center, the Alumni and Visitors Center is taking shape. According to University Facilities, this new facility, which will host several Clemson partners and programs, is on track for completion by this November.
On East Campus, the High Rise Renovation Project continues throughout this school year, with Manning Hall currently under renovation until July 2025. Following the completion of Manning Hall, renovations will begin on Lever Hall, with completion anticipated by 2026.
Off-campus towards Pendleton, Phase I of Clemson’s College of Veterinary Medicine commenced in spring 2024 and is projected to continue until 2026.
There are several other construction projects taking place in the vicinity of campus, including the new University Facilities Center, Jervey Athletic Center Renovation and Performance & Wellness Center Addition, West Campus Energy Plant Expansion, Memorial Auditorium Renovation near Tillman Hall, Hendrix Student Center Roof Replacement, Lightsey Bridge Sidewalk Repairs and the Intersection of Cherry Road and Old Stone Church Road Redesign Project.
