Clemson women’s tennis took on UNC Greensboro at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility this past Sunday. Coming off a solid win against College of Charleston on Saturday, No. 21 Clemson, 10-2, did it again and outperformed UNC Greensboro 4-0.
Clemson wasted no time setting the tone, attacking doubles play with energy and urgency to grab the early match lead.
The first doubles victory came at Court No. 3, where Talia Neilson-Gatenby and Artemis Aslanisvili delivered a dominant 6-0 sweep over the Spartans. That momentum carried into another win for the Tigers on Court No. 1, as Jade Groen and Rinon Okuwaki secured an impressive 6-1 victory. With both matches clinched, the doubles team of Gaia Parravicini and Romana Cisovska on Court No. 2 saw their match halted due to Clemson’s early doubles advantage.
Following doubles play, singles competition began with the Tigers continuing their dominant performance against the Spartans.
On Court No. 5, Artemis Aslanisvili was the first to finish, earning a straight-set victory over Sofia Somoano with a 6-1, 6-1 win, extending Clemson’s lead to 2-0.
Shortly after, Okuwaki secured another singles victory on Court No. 3, winning 6-0, 7-5, and pushing the Tigers’ lead to 3-0 and continuing the team’s strong momentum.
The clinching match came from Court No. 1, where Groen captured a straight-set victory, 6-2, 6-2, officially securing the 4-0 team win for Clemson. With the match decided, the remaining singles matches were stopped.
Before play was halted, several Tigers held strong advantages. At Court No. 2, Romana Cisovska won her first set 6-4 and led 4-1 in the second. On Court No. 4, Ria Bhakta captured her opening set 6-1 and held a 5-2 lead. At No. 6, Parravicini won her first set 6-4 and was leading 4-2 when the competition concluded.
