Clemson, Feb. 16, 2026: The English Language Programs hosted its Conversation Pairs welcome meeting for the spring of 2026. This meeting was held at the Barnes Center and kick-started the Conversation Pairs meetups for the spring semester.
The Conversation Pairs program pairs an international and a domestic student for the semester. The pair then meets every week for about an hour to do any activity they would like, such as going for a walk or going to get ice cream. The program’s purpose is to build connections and explore other cultures.
The welcome meeting offered pairs a valuable opportunity to get to know one another while also connecting with other participants in the program. It created a warm and inviting atmosphere where everyone felt encouraged to engage, share, and build relationships. There were 40 people in attendance at this meeting, and there are typically around 110 to 172 enrolled in the program per semester. The event featured delicious food, fun surprises and interactions that helped break the ice and spark conversations to set a positive tone for the semester.
By participating in the program, students not only learn about other cultures but also develop communication skills, cultural awareness and lasting friendships. The program is open to any student eager to expand their horizons, connect with someone from a different background and enjoy a semester full of learning and shared experiences.
