Clemson, South Carolina — the wait is over. Registration is officially open for the return of one of Clemson’s most beloved traditions: the RC & MoonPie Presidential Downhill Mile. Participants are now invited to secure their spot and be part of a high-energy, one-of-a-kind race through the heart of campus.
Blending tradition, competition and a distinctly Southern twist, the RC & MoonPie Presidential Downhill Mile is a one-mile downhill eating competition and foot race that begins on the sidewalk in front of the President’s House and finishes at the historic Esso Club. Along the course, participants will take on MoonPie and cola stops, creating an experience that is equal parts challenge, celebration, and Clemson spirit.
The event honors former Clemson President R.C. Edwards and his wife, Louise “MoonPie” Edwards, whose legacy continues to bring together students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the University through this uniquely Clemson tradition.
Following strong momentum from last year’s return, the 2026 race is expected to draw an even larger crowd. Participants are encouraged to register early, as spots may be limited.
Registration is now open at rcmoonpiemile.com.
Whether running for speed, tradition, or simply the experience, the message is clear: don’t wait — claim your spot and get ready to run it downhill.
