The Clemson Board of Trustees received some praise from the State House in Columbia on March 30 from a University of South Carolina trustee, Charles Williams.
“Clemson’s board is a great example of how a good board operates,” said Williams, suggesting another area where Clemson has gained bragging rights over their chief in-state rival.
The University of South Carolina trustees were grilled over five hours of hearings, while just two days earlier, lawmakers questioned four candidates for three trustee seats at Clemson University for less than an hour, according to the Associated Press.
“The university [UofSC] in my opinion has finally reached a level of a dumpster fire,” said Representative Kirkman Finlay in reference to actions taken by the board members in previous years.
The Clemson Board of Trustees declined the opportunity for comment.
