Clemson men’s tennis went 4-0 on the first day of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday, defeating No. 13 Boston College in convincing fashion.
Coming into the Tournament as a No. 12 seed, the Tigers blazed to 1-0 start on the day, clinching both doubles matches.
Clemson’s Ryuhei Azuma and Spencer Whitaker defeated Boston College’s Juan Jose Bianchi and Max Motlagh, 6-2.
Meanwhile, Clemson’s Teodor Giusca and Maxwell Smith defeated Boston College’s Mason Fung and Jake Vassel, 6-4. Giusca also defeated Boston College’s Oliver Worth, capturing the first singles victory of the day for the Tigers, 6-1, 6-3.
Whitaker clinched the third win of the day for the Tigers, defeating Boston College’s Will Kasten, 7-6 (3), 6-1.
The fourth win of the day for the Tigers came from court six, where Clemson freshman Trey Stinchcomb defeated Vassel, 6-4, 6-4.
The Tigers hope to continue their momentum Thursday, April 21, when they will face No. 5 Duke at 10 a.m. EDT.
