Humanities Hall –

Clemson’s new Humanities Hall is now fully functional and ready to welcome students back to campus. 

The brand-new facility includes a 250-seat lecture hall, 12 classrooms that range in size from 18 to 72 seats, a debate lab, eight collaboration spaces, four offices, two conference rooms and a new Pearce Center facility, totaling 2,633 square feet. 

The structure stands tall and is oriented to face the Tillman Hall clock tower, and windows provide an exquisite view from the third floor. 

The new “Humanities Hall has ‘Sage Glass’ technology on the west elevations that will tint as the sun begins to set. The open-air, natural light also allows the new build to have a more collaborative and inviting environment for students to learn and hang out in,” according to Edwin Medrano, the assistant superintendent of the project for Holder Construction. 

Renovations will continue on Daniel Hall next door until Fall 2023. Once Daniel Hall is fully completed, both buildings will be connected by a third-floor skywalk as a unique way to commute to class. 

Dining hall upgrades - 

Over the summer, Clemson Home and Dining has undergone renovations for the upcoming school year. Which Which just underwent renovations and the POD was removed in CORE. 

Newly updated sustainability posters and infographics have also been updated and added to The Dish at McCallister and Schilletter dining halls and the Douthit Hub. 

Monterrey’s Mexican Restaurant of Clemson Closes Dine-In – Aundrea Gibbons  

Monterrey’s Mexican Restaurant in Clemson is no longer serving customers inside the restaurant as of Aug 1. 

Fan favorites of the restaurant include its birria tacos, quesadillas, reasonably priced happy hours and cheese dip. 

The restaurant, which has been open for 23 years on Anderson Highway, will now serve customers takeout only through DoorDash and GrubHub, according to Monterrey’s social media platforms.

“This decision was hard to make, but with all of the strain that the pandemic has put on small businesses, it had to be done,” the business posted on Facebook.

The restaurant encourages its “Monterrey fam” to continue ordering takeout and to support the new food truck, Birria Boy, owned by a second-generation family member of Monterrey’s.
