Everyone has “their” bar — their go-to, their spot, their first choice. Cameron Farish, one of the owners, hopes that your bar is Tiger Town Tavern, downtown Clemson’s local pool hall since 1977 and this year’s Best Bar.
Tiger Town Tavern, commonly known as Triple or TTT, is one of Clemson’s most notable bars, known for its $2 Pabst Blue Ribbon beers — making it the No. 3 seller in the world of the beer on premises — and renowned 21st birthday t-shirts.
Featuring a wide array of craft beers, seltzers and any drink you can imagine under the sun, bartenders are engaged and ready to serve.
“When people leave here at the end of the night, and the next day someone says what did you do last night, I really want them to say I went to my bar,” Farish said. “If Tiger Town leaves you feeling that way, hey man, I’ve done my job.”
The bar has grown a lot since its opening 46 years ago, now under its second generation of leadership. Farish is one of four owners along with his wife, Dave Thompson and Cason Collins.
Live music with no cover charge is also making a comeback, as a soon-to-be-permanent stage for outdoor music broke ground with a recent expansion project. But if downstairs is too busy, take a quick walk upstairs to the membership-only space coined the Top of the Tavern.
Triple’s prime location in the oldest free-standing building in Clemson makes it not only easily accessible but an iconic part of the downtown scene. Stop by and get a growler to leave feeling just like the Tiger on the glass window outside, or grab a bite to eat from the full-service kitchen.
All in all, Tiger Town Tavern is ready to be your bar.
