Originating as the Clemson field house when it opened back in 1930, Clemson’s Fike Recreation Center boasts a 250,000 square foot facility full of various amenities for any Clemson student to enjoy. It rests in the heart of campus, sandwiched between the upper and lower intramural fields.
Fike has a wide range of amenities: you can be the king of the court on its basketball courts, grow your body with its cardio and strength equipment, take on the climbing wall, play table tennis and racquetball or even take laps in the McHugh Natatorium pool and sauna.
“There truly is something for everyone here,” Victoria Perry, Campus Recreation’s director of member services and communication, told The Tiger.
Not only can you access a wide range of activities, but Fike is a key part of Clemson’s aim to improve health — both physical and mental — and the facility offers Clemson students an opportunity to begin their pursuit of balanced lives.
“Fike also fosters community and accountability through group activities and shared spaces, helping students build consistent, healthy routines,” Perry continued. “Students’ well-being matters and exercise has been proven to be one of the most effective tools for helping to manage stress, anxiety, depression, etc.”
Fike is a prime example of Clemson’s mission to promote good lifestyles to its students. It adds a chance for every student to find their physical niche, covering pretty much any workout you can think of within its facilities.
