For the seventh consecutive year, Douthit Hills has once again achieved the title of Clemson’s Best On-Campus Housing. From the convenient location to high-quality dorm styles, Douthit Hills has proven its popularity on campus time and time again.
Aside from the obvious benefits, Douthit Hills contains an entire layer of positive features beyond the usual compliments it receives.
When asked to share her experience at Douthit West, Isabella Rider, a residential community mentor and junior psychology major, had nothing but sheer gratitude for the community she’s found at Douthit West Building B.
“The staff is always so cheery and available for students, and while some living-learning communities are obviously more social than others, I’ve found a great community here, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Rider told The Tiger in an interview.
Rider also emphasized the layout’s convenience. As an RCM, she relies heavily on the amenities in her building to remain available for students day in and day out.
“You get your own bathroom, kitchen and laundry. You can live entirely in your dorm without worrying about sharing communal spaces like in traditional freshman dorms,” Rider continued. “You don’t have to leave Douthit to feel like you’re on campus.”
Since Douthit Hills features a gym, dining hall and campus bookstore, the amenities remain highly enticing for incoming students and a prime location for campus tours.
Megan Noble, a former Douthit East resident and sophomore psychology major, was asked to reflect on the downsides of her living experience.
She pointed to occasional noise issues: “Maybe noise complaints? Neighbors may throw parties. But if you’re friendly with your neighbors, you can always communicate with them about disturbances,” Noble told The Tiger.
Despite noisy neighbors, Douthit Hills remains a fan favorite with the University students — a place where community, convenience and sunsets over Tillman Hall remind residents why they call it home.
