Greek life keeps getting bigger and better every year at Clemson University. Clemson’s campus is home to 13 Panhellenic sororities, making the Best Sorority award contentious, but in the end, Kappa Kappa Gamma was voted the best.
Upon receiving the results, The Tiger spoke with Cassidy Friend and Ansley Cook, president and social chair of KKG.
“As a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, being named Best of Clemson means that our peers and future Clemson students will get to experience the same pride when hearing the Kappa name,” Friend said. “It reflects the strong sense of community, leadership, and sisterhood that we work hard to cultivate every day. It makes me proud to be a part of something bigger than myself, knowing that our actions and values are positively impacting not only our members but also the Clemson Community.
“To me, the fact that others hold Kappa in such high regard reflects the strong community we’ve built and the positive influence we’ve had on those around us. We are committed to creating a meaningful impact within our sisterhood and extending that impact throughout the entire Clemson community,” Friend said.
“We encourage our members to embody our values and act with integrity and optimism, no matter the circumstances. Being a part of Kappa has been one of the highlights of my college journey, offering invaluable lessons about myself and my peers. Knowing that our impact extends beyond our chapter is deeply meaningful to me. This realization has made my role as President even more purposeful as I have been fortunate to lead our chapter and contribute to its positive growth.
“To me, this role has never been about the title, but rather the opportunity to guide and serve our members, leaving a lasting legacy for our chapter. It’s an honor to see that legacy recognized, and I hope it continues to resonate in the future.”
Kappa Kappa Gamma’s core values are truth, connection, respect, optimism, knowledge and trailblazing. Cook, the organization’s social chair, adds that “our chapter at Clemson has worked diligently to not only uphold these values, but to also align them with the values of Clemson as well as the Panhellenic Community. By doing so, we emphasize the importance of integrity, service, and leadership in all that we do.” She further explains, “Whether it’s through philanthropic initiatives, leadership roles, or support for fellow organizations, we work to create an inclusive and supportive environment that reflects the very best of what Kappa stands for. Through these endeavors, we aim to leave a lasting impact that extends beyond our chapter, contributing positively to the culture of Clemson and the wider Panhellenic community.”
If you are interested in supporting the endeavors of Kappa Kappa Gamma here on Clemson’s campus, Friend shares, “People can support Kappa Kappa Gamma by helping spread a sense of inclusivity. Whether through participating in our philanthropic efforts, supporting our members’ personal and academic growth, or simply being kind and inclusive, everyone can play a part in helping us uphold our values and make a positive impact. We want the Clemson community to be excited for our upcoming events and to participate in our efforts to raise awareness for our philanthropy, the JED Foundation.”
“One upcoming event the community can attend is Clemson Carnival. It will be filled with games, pop-up vendors, live music, and a great time! Clemson Carnival will be at Maverick Hills on April 4 from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. We hope to see the support of the Clemson community there, and we are so grateful as a chapter to be named the best Panhellenic sorority!”
