For the seventh consecutive year, Tiger Town Tavern has been voted Best Bar in Clemson. Whether you’re looking for a place to play pool, get drinks or hang out with your friends, Triple has it all.
Open since 1977, Triple fosters a welcoming environment, hosting themed nights during the week and focusing on interpersonal relationships with its customers.
Co-owner Cameron Farish explained that Clemson is different from other cities like Asheville or Greenville: all the bars in town are owned by people, not corporations. In 1993, Farish started working at Triple alongside his now-wife, and in the 2000s, he was offered the chance to partially own the bar. Since then, he has helped to grow Triple into what it is today.
Farish wants people to feel like Triple is “their bar” and not just some place you go to get a drink. With the rise of technology, maintaining the interpersonal relationships that have been built among staff and between staff and customers is at the forefront of his mission. He explained that, with a smaller staff, Triple can do this on a larger scale.
Customers feel they can come both on busy nights and on slower nights to either have a drink or play pool to enjoy community, just as Farish intends. Even on traditionally slower nights, Triple offers bingo and trivia on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Thursdays historically featuring a live band.
Triple also offers an upstairs option, where anyone can buy a $10 lifetime membership and gain access to more pool tables and its own bar.
Though they do offer this upgrade for a small fee, Farish emphasized that they do not charge covers at Triple and he intends to keep it that way.
“I really wanted this to be a kind of place where you walk in, and you are engaged,” Farish told The Tiger in an interview. “Everyone can come here. Everybody gets treated equally.”
Triple truly has something for everyone. Bartenders make anything from vodka Red Bulls to Pickletinis, $2 Pabst Blue Ribbons and an extensive martini menu, and with expert speed and service.
“It is the easiest place to get a drink around town,” Farish said.
Tiger Town Tavern is not just a bar; it is a family that invites you to join. This community has earned Triple the title of Clemson’s Best Bar for years — and for good reason.
