Clemson Miracle will be hosting a dance marathon in support of the Upstate’s local Children’s Miracle Network hospital on March 5 in the Fike Recreation Center.
Established in 2009, Clemson Miracle is the University’s largest student-run nonprofit organization, and has raised funds for numerous programs to benefit children and hospital programs.
In 2019, they raised $100,000 to help fund the Canine F.E.T.C.H. (Friends Encouraging Therapeutic Coping and Healing) therapy dog program. They also raised an additional $100,000 to provide scholarships to kids with medically complex lifestyles to attend summer camps.
Since 2020, Clemson Miracle has raised nearly $200,000 to go toward the renovation of the Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
“Throughout each school year, students involved with Clemson Miracle raise awareness and funds by hosting events and reaching out to the community,” said Jessica Frey, Clemson Miracle’s public relations chair.
“The year culminates with a 12-hour celebration in the Spring (the dance marathon) on campus where students get to meet patient families treated at their local hospital, participate in games and dancing, enjoy entertainment, and reveal their annual fundraising total.”
Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a program that raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals which support the health of ten million kids each year across the U.S. and Canada. Students involved in Miracle Network Dance Marathon spend a year gaining leadership, teamwork, and nonprofit business experience, and Clemson’s own chapter will be hosting the event this year.  
“Coming to Clemson, I knew I wanted to get involved in Dance Marathon and it was the best decision I made because our Miracle kids and families are so special to us, and being able to support them in any way and see our impact is the most rewarding feeling,” said Adrianna Corral, a senior psychology major. “These past two years, I was on the recruitment and hospital relations committee, but for my third year, I wanted to get more involved in Clemson Miracle and grow our organization with the best executive team.”
The organization is comprised of nearly 600 students on campus and includes an executive board of directors of 32 members. Each board of directors has a committee that leads the organization’s efforts and plans the bulk of the year’s activities for other participants who mainly participate in the year’s activities, fundraise and spread awareness for fundraisers.
“I chose to be a part of Clemson Miracle because of my love for kids! The ability to help another family whose child or sibling is going through a medical diagnosis is what inspired me to join this amazing organization, said Hunter Roberton, a senior biological sciences major. “I believe that every child deserves to live their life to the fullest and experience all that the world has to offer, so being able to help make that happen for each and every one of them is a really amazing thing.”
Shortly after March 5 and before the spring semester is complete, Clemson Miracle will be recruiting for the new 2022-2023 Executive Board of Directors and student participants.
