Clemson Music Fest announced that rap artist DaBaby will perform instead of BigXthaPlug on Tuesday.
BigXthaPlug, whose real name is Xavier Darnell Landum, will not perform at CMF “due to circumstances out of our control,” according to the Clemson Music Fest website.
While CMF has not stated the explicit reason for Landum’s absence, the Arlington Police Department charged him with possession of marijuana in less than two ounces on Feb. 26.
BigXthaPlug does not remain on the Arlington Police Department’s active inmate list.
His music blends together elements of southern rap, trap, hip-hop, country and blues to create a sound inspired by his life experiences in his home state of Texas, according to SPIN.com.
BigXthaPlug made the Billboard Top 100 with “Mmhmm” in October 2023. In August 2024, BigXthaPlug was named Amazon Music’s Breakthrough Artist, according to Billboard.
DaBaby will “keep the party LIT!” in BigXthaPlug’s absence, according to the CMF website.
CMF listed a variety of reasons to “get ready” for DaBaby’s performance. Among them are chart-topping hits, incredible crowd interaction and vibrant stage production.
Some of DaBaby’s most popular songs on streaming services include “ROCKSTAR (feat. Roddy Ricch)”, “VIBEZ” and “Suge.”
“Suge” received nominations for Best Performance and Best Rap Song at the 62nd annual Grammys. “ROCKSTAR (feat. Roddy Ricch)” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 list in June 2020.
Clemson Music Fest hopes to provide a “fun, party atmosphere” by adding DaBaby to its lineup.
